Northney Ice Cream - About us
Northney Ice Cream was set up in summer 2009 as a diversification project for Northney Farm. The farm produces top-quality milk from the herd of pedigree Ayrshire cows, and we needed to find ways of selling the milk that were more profitable. The family wish to continue dairy farming in North Hayling, and this is one step towards ensuring our business stays viable for years to come.
Northney Ice Cream is run by Tim Pike, who set up the business following the opportunity to leave employment in the Civil Service in central London. Tim has taken the business from a concept on paper, to a thriving small business, supplying retailers, pubs, caterers and kiosks around south-east Hampshire.
Northney Ice Cream is produced in the small production unit based in one of the disused barns at Northney Farm. We have a viewing area for groups to see the ice cream production as it happens, and find out more about the processes involved. We can include a trip to see the ice cream being made as part of group visits to the farm (and, of course, a taste). If you would like to find out more about group visits, please visit the farm website – www.northneyfarm.co.uk. We also hold at least one annual farm open day.
